QX-4 MKII
The QX-4 MKII is a 2-way floorstanding speaker with two 6.5″ (165 mm) bass drivers and a ring dome treble unit.
As with all Mission loudspeaker concepts, the process of listening, listening and listening again is the key to improvement. With the added benefit of modern speaker design tools such as computer-aided optimization technology, crossover modeling and laser interferometry, Mission engineers also spent a great deal of time refining the crossovers, components, materials and construction.
Like the now established and equally leading Mission LX MKII series, the QX MKII series takes an already phenomenal loudspeaker solution but refines it, optimizes it and brings even more vibrancy, finesse and class, through a process of evolution. not revolution.
QX MKII drivers of the Mission QX-4 MKII - Walnut - Floorstanding Speaker
An improved acrylic fiber cone material was chosen for the QX MKII drivers. Acrylic fiber is naturally wear-resistant, but offers a delicate appearance, unlike the hard driver materials seen in typical speakers of this price range. Implemented in the Mission DiaDrive system, acrylic fiber provides natural mids and exceptional clarity. The seamless curvilinear design features a tapered support with a larger contact area with the voice coil. This highly efficient and uncompromising system ensures that the QX MKII Series excels in timing, with excellent transient impact.
New look aluminum top plate
Aesthetically, the QX MKII series brings new Lux Black and Lux White matte finishes to the series, with the classic walnut pearl option. The new aluminum top plate in matching color is more than just a visual "icing on the cake"; the extra rigidity and support provided by this sturdy yet stylish addition further enhances the performance of the meticulously designed cabinets of this striking speaker series.
Ring of Fire
To overcome problems inherent in the physics of conventional domes, the center of the "ring dome" is fixed with a clear and visible "phase plug. This design enables extensive HF reproduction by preventing cancellation across the center axis of high-frequency waves near the center of the aperture. The resonance experienced by traditional domes means that HF performance inevitably causes distortion as it approaches high energy. Controlling this phenomenon inevitably reduces HF capabilities in traditional domes, while the "ring dome" is virtually exempt from this complication. The result is better controlled and much more consistent behavior from 10 kHz to 20 kHz, and well beyond! Transient performance is dramatically improved, as is musical detail, especially of instrument overtones and harmonics.
Reverse drive geometry on the Mission QX-4 MKII - Walnut - Floorstanding Speaker
Retaining the basics of QX style, the QX MKII is configured in the classic Mission IDG (Inverted Driver Geometry) format. By placing the treble unit below the bass/midrange driver, the path length is equalized so that the sound waves converge at the listener's head height. This principle improves "time alignment.
QX MKII also takes the groundbreaking knurled driver surrounds to a new level. More than just a technical appearance or a fancy design touch, the surrounds have been improved through detailed airflow analysis and precise measurements. The new QX MKII surrounds help scatter reflections and reduce airflow interference to improve the silky smooth performance of the drivers and ports.
