The latest adaptation of Acoustic Energy's globally acclaimed 100 Series features an all-new, innovative design from the ground up.
The new 100 Series introduces a plethora of evolutionary improvements aimed at refining the listening experience. All models (apart from the AE108² subwoofer) feature our WDT (Wide Dispersion Tweeter) waveguide for improved dispersion, now taking advantage of our 500 Series signals with mid/bass drivers positioned closer to the tweeter. The drive units are all-new and designed in tandem to provide seamless integration along with improved response and power handling. Slot ports at the rear of each cabinet reduce chuffing and distortion, thanks to a newly machined vent for further smooth airflow. Finally, as a first in this price range, the 100 Series uses High Density Fibreboard (HDF) construction to allow thinner cabinet walls without loss in mass or rigidity - the result is increased internal volume that offers deeper bass response for a minimal increase in external size.

Product Description of the Acoustic Energy AE109² - Walnut - Floorstanding Speakers
The AE109² is designed to provide effortless, room-filling performance from a slim floorstanding speaker in much the same way as the globally acclaimed original AE109 did 20 years ago. To do this, two 130 mm paper drivers are used that utilize an ultra-high force motor system in conjunction with a 25 mm soft dome tweeter. The 2.5-way crossover has a unique topology that allows integration and power handling not previously possible with this type of speaker. Particular attention has been paid to phase and time alignment for the most coherent performance possible.
Like the AE100² floor-standing loudspeaker, the driver and crossover are housed in a substantial 15 mm HDF cabinet that draws style elements from the award-winning 500 series. The result is an audio product with clean and uncluttered lines that can still deliver the exciting and powerful presentation owners have come to expect from Acoustic Energy. Black and walnut vinyl veneer finishes are available.
Tweeter
Acoustic Energy's custom 25mm soft dome tweeter is designed in conjunction with the 100 Series bass driver to provide optimal integration and tone fitting. Combined with our Wide Dispersion Technology waveguide, the crossover area between drive units is audibly seamless, while the powerful neodymium motor assembly ensures reliable, distortion-free high-volume reproduction.
Drivers
The 130 mm bass/midrange driver used in the 100 Series is designed with a powerful long-travel motor to provide satisfactory volume levels and bass extension from relatively compact enclosures. The doped paper cone allows a higher crossover point for smoother midrange and seamless crossover with the tweeter, creating an extremely hi-fi, detailed and, above all, musical sound reproduction.
Housing
The 100 Series uses thin, 15 mm high-density (HDF) enclosures with carefully matched bracing, reducing damaging resonances while maintaining the body and substance of compact, practical cabinets. Rear ports* allow for smooth bass extension with minimal space impact, making placement easy. The AE109² and AE120² feature inert mass loading for added stability and acoustic damping, all models come with slim magnetic grilles.
*The AE108² is a sealed box without a lock port.
