The Marine 8 is a two-way speaker with a 25 mm (1 inch) tweeter and a 200 mm (8 inch) polypropylene driver for the bass and midrange. The IP66 rating ensures that the speakers are incredibly rugged after installation. Although this is the larger size speaker in the Marine Series, the mounting depth is only 93mm (3.7 inches) and the cutout is only 249mm (9.8 inches).
The larger of Bowers & Wilkins' two Marine Series speakers, the Marine 8 has a 25mm (1 inch) tweeter and a 200mm (8 inch) polypropylene bass and midrange driver. This combination can produce pristine sound under the harshest conditions.
The speaker has an IP66 rating, which means it is suitable for use at sea and can withstand extreme temperatures, a salty atmosphere and rinsing with a water hose. The metal grille and fasteners are made of seawater-resistant stainless steel. The frame of the driver is made of non-corrosive, rigid polymer, while the dome of the tweeter has a back support to prevent permanent deformation during cleanup.
This ruggedness means that the Marine 8 can also produce great sound under various harsh conditions.
