The Cambridge Audio CXA61 is an integrated amplifier with perfect sound quality and a beautiful design. The amplifier power is 2x 60 watts at 8 ohms and this provides more than enough power reserves to effortlessly drive most speakers and multiple speaker pairs. For this purpose Cambridge has equipped the CXA61 with two switchable speaker groups.

Compared to its CXA60 predecessor, the CXA61 has been given a more minimalist look and a fancier Luna Grey color scheme. With this, this beautiful amplifier fits perfectly into any interior. Fortunately, the manufacturer did not forget the headphone lovers and kept the 3.5mm headphone jack on the front panel. All functions of this amplifier are easily controlled via the front panel. In addition, Cambridge Audio supplies a handy remote control with it for even more ease of operation.

Sufficient Connectivity

The amplifier features four analog line inputs where one of the inputs also has a convenient 3.5mm jack on the front panel for quick access. Four digital inputs are also available including two optical, one coaxial and one USB. With this, this integrated amplifier has more than enough connections available. The amplifier even has a pre-out so you can easily drive a powerful power amplifier or a set of active speakers with this CXA61. In addition, the amplifier has a subwoofer jack to which you can connect an active subwoofer for an even more powerful and deeper continuous low.

Upgrades from the Cambridge Audio CXA61 - Gray - Stereo Amplifier

Cambridge Audio has made several upgrades to the analog signal path that have further increased the analog sound quality over its predecessor. This new CXA-61 also features a new high quality ESS Sabre SE9010K2M DAC chip with a maximum resolution of 32bit / 384kHz PCM and DSD256. With this, the digital side of this integrated amplifier performs at an even higher level than its predecessor.

Bluetooth Integration

Cambridge Audio has now also implemented aptX HD Bluetooth with this CXA61 and this means that this CXA61 amplifier really does have everything you need to play music from every conceivable audio source. Whether you want to play music from an analog source, your computer or simply your smartphone, the CXA61 can do it all.

The difference between the CXA61 and the CXA81 is the greater power output of the CXA81 which is 80 watts per channel instead of 60. The CXA81 also has an XLR input. The dac chip in the CXA81 is the more advanced ES9016K2M model.
