The new FF line of subwoofers is the next evolutionary step in the ongoing quest for outstanding bass performance. The FF series offers versatility, small size and good looks, while remaining surprisingly affordable.
The powerful woofers used in the FF line have a direct lineage to the acclaimed MiniME subwoofers with tremendous excursion and high power. The amplifiers are refined descendants of Earthquake's signature Sub-Series.
The third-generation Earthquake FEA computer-modeled bass Slot-Port loading increases the output of the powerful woofer/amplifier combo. The new Slot-Port offers more port volume than is possible with traditional tubular port loading, resulting in radically increased low-frequency output. Because it is not tubular, it can bend at optimal angles, making the cabinet smaller, making the subwoofer both powerful and aesthetically pleasing. It also directs laminar airflow across the internal amplifier's aerodynamically shaped heat exchangers. This technique of forced cooling allows the FF subs to operate at continuous high levels, even when fully built in. The Slot-Port is an integral part of the subwoofer and serves as a cross brace making the cabinet very strong and resonance-free.
The FF6.5 takes the Slot-Port design a significant step further by combining the Slot-Port with an advanced reflex device. This new technology combines a quarter-wavelength transmission line with a folded variable-section horn. This new synthesis of technologies produces an acoustic reflex device with unsurpassed efficiency. This results in a huge boost to low frequency output, allowing the FF6.5 to rival ordinary designs with woofers up to 10 inches.
