Wireless connection

Each Q Active system includes connectivity for Bluetooth 4.1, Apple AirPlay 2, Spotify Connect and UPnP. Q Active is also Roon Ready.

Plus, Q Active is designed to support your favorite streaming service's own app, which means easy, uncomplicated access to music from around the planet. Q Active works with Amazon Music, Apple Music, Deezer, Qobuz, Spotify and Tidal.

Q Active control

Q Active's hub is the heart of the system and also supports physical formats and converts them to a high-resolution digital file of 24 bit/96 kHz. The hub then streams this high-resolution audio file to the speakers, so any format you want to listen to can be handled wirelessly by your Q Active system. That means high-quality wireless audio performance regardless of the source of your music.

Ethernet: Ethernet connectivity allows for a robust wired Internet connection to Q Active.

TV sound: HDMI Audio Return Channel (ARC) input on the hub - allowing any TV with a corresponding output to send audio information to the hub without affecting picture performance. Want your TV sound to be part of your wireless audio system? With Q Active, you can.

Digital Optical: Disc players - whether a CD player, a DVD player or a Blu-ray player, have a digital optical output. Almost every game console has one, too. So there's nothing stopping you from including these sources in your high-resolution wireless audio system as well.

Stunning high-resolution sound

Audio can be described as "high resolution" if it consists of a digital audio format greater than the CD standard 16bit/44.1kHz. Q Active can support wireless streaming, whether from the control hub or via a smartphone, tablet and the like, with massive native 24bit/96kHz. Q Active can also play 32bit/192kHz audio files from a suitable source, downsampling them to native 24bit/96kHz resolution before sending them wirelessly to the speakers.

Active amplification at the Q Acoustics Q Active 400

In a traditional, passive audio system, there is one amplifier. It drives two speakers, which will have a total of at least four drivers. In the Q Active system, each driver (there are four in each Q Active 400 floorstanding speaker) is driven by its own individual, specifically selected amplifier.

By using a total of eight separate amplifiers, totaling 440 watts of power to drive the Q Active system, each individual driver gets its own carefully controlled amplification. The result is that Q Active can drive each driver with precision and finesse, which in short means that Q Active sounds bigger and more precise than you would think possible.

Dynamic widescreen sound

Q Active doesn't just look unique. Q Acoustics wanted Q Active to deliver widescreen sound without compromising stereo focus or soundstage, and specified Balanced Mode Radiators (BMRs).

BMRs allow Q Active to deliver outstanding sound quality across your entire listening area, rather than limiting it to the sweet spot of more traditional driver arrangements. And in addition to this widescreen presentation, BMRs deliver seamless midrange performance. Because they work all the way up to 150 Hz, where they hand over to the Q Actives subwoofer driver, there is no midrange crossover distortion and thus completely clean and uncolored mids.

Offsetting the BMRs in the Q Active cabinet also has a function. It allows for some fine tuning in your listening room because it is possible to place the BMRs on the inside or outside of the cabinets.

Powerful, controlled bass

The back of an ordinary speaker is usually not worthy of discussion. But as is surely clear by now, Q Active is far from an ordinary speaker - and that includes the back of the cabinet.

Q Active 200 features a rear-facing 114 mm / (4.5-inch) subwoofer that delivers fast, deep and nicely organized bass. Q Active 400 features a pair of subwoofers to double the low-frequency action. The reason these drivers are hidden, and the reason they are arranged the way they are, has everything to do with Q Acoustics' determination to make Q Active easy to position and simple to use, and to make the system sound brilliantly powerful. and controlled.

There is also a carefully designed fixed "Wave guide" boundary that the subwoofer can shoot at, meaning that the dispersion characteristics of the bass frequencies are always exactly as Q Acoustics prefers. Speaker setup

Q Actives can be placed with the BMRs on the inside or outside of the cabinets, allowing perfect audio reproduction whether you are sitting close to the speakers or far away from them. There is a simple switch on the back of each Q Active speaker to designate it as the left or right channel.

Border setting

A second switch lets you tell the speaker exactly where it is in relation to the room: near a back wall, in a corner or outside in a small clear space. With this information, Q Active can refine the low-frequency response to deliver the best possible sound under all conditions.
