Q Acoustics Q CONCEPT 50 - Black - Floorstanding Speaker

About the Q Acoustics Q CONCEPT 50 - Black - Floorstanding Speaker:

  • Gelcore™ cabinet construction reduces higher frequency cabinet noise.
  • P2P™ (Point to Point™) internal bracing reinforces the cabinet to minimize lower frequency vibrations.
  • HPE™ (Helmholtz Pressure Equalizer™) reduces internal pressure and standing waves.
  • Isolating suspension base eliminates unwanted external and internal vibrations.
  • The driver assembly is mounted to the front aluminum baffle with pre-tensioned studs to achieve proper acoustic sealing, dampen vibration and minimize structural coupling of the assembly into the main cabinet.
  • Thorough mid/bass and tweeter driver design for improved power handling.
  • The high-frequency driver is completely hermetically sealed and mechanically isolated (floating) from the front baffle to protect against internal resonances of the mid/bass driver.
  • The crossover design is mounted on the isolation base to minimize any microphonic signals and stay away from electromagnetic fields emitted by the drive units.

Suitable for larger rooms, the Concept 50 offers truly high-quality home audio performance without the high price tag. Every element of acoustic innovation in the Concept 50 is focused on designing the quietest possible cabinet. Unaffected by internal and external resonances, these speakers deliver focused stereo imaging, accurate audio and an extended holographic soundstage to mimic a live performance at home.

This floorstander has higher sensitivity for improved dynamics and impresses with its pure musicality and eerily realistic soundstage.

Controlled power of the Q Acoustics Q CONCEPT 50

Designed as an integral part of the cabinet's mechanical structure, both the 5-inch mid/bass and 0.9-inch tweeter drivers are new, thorough designs specifically for the Concept 30, 50 and 90 loudspeakers. The drive units are attached to a remarkably rigid 3mm aluminum retaining plate before being mounted on the cabinet. This ensures proper acoustic sealing, dampens vibration and minimizes structural coupling.

Elsewhere, the tweeter is hermetically sealed and mechanically isolated (floating) from the soundboard, which means less distortion and a lower crossover point for seamless integration through the crossover area. At 30.5 mm in diameter, the larger voice coil of the mid/bass driver increases motor strength, resulting in a 50% increase in load capacity over a comparable driver with a 25.4 mm voice coil.

Finally, the crossover itself is mounted on the isolation base, keeping it free of noise-influencing vibrations and away from the electromagnetic influence of the drivers themselves.

HPE™ (Helmholtz Pressure Equalizer™) technology.

The nature of the Concept 50 tower design can introduce unwanted standing waves into the cabinet. Using an HPE™ (Helmholtz Pressure Equalizer™) tube design, first launched in the Concept 500, pressure is converted into velocity to eliminate these performance-affecting vibrations and help deliver the ideal frequency response.

Elegant design

With the same sophisticated design lines and stunning, high-quality high-gloss finish as the top 300 and 500 models, the new series retains the distinctive aluminum faceplate that made the original Concept speakers so iconic. The Concept 50 comes in three distinctive lacquers: black, silver and white.

Gelcore™ technology of the Q Acoustics Q CONCEPT 50

The Gelcore™ cabinet construction, introduced in the original Concept speaker, is designed to minimize high-frequency noise. A unique design consisting of a non-hardening gel sandwiched between two separate layers. This specially developed adhesive dissipates high-frequency vibrations generated by the moving drivers into heat to maintain a focused audio performance.

Insulation suspension system

A variation on the hugely effective "isolation base" principle first seen on the Concept 300 means that the Concept 50 has a suspension system in the form of a spring-loaded base plate. Two plates are separated by suspension balls that effectively isolate the cabinet from interference from external vibrations, creating a tighter stereo image as well as more depth.

P2P™ (Point to Point™) technology.

To keep the cabinet as rigid as possible, internal reinforcement of P2P™ (Point to Point™) is used. First introduced in the Concept 500, reinforcement is applied to the interior areas of the cabinet that are prone to reverberation in the low frequency range.

Using Finite Element Analysis and laser interferometry to examine cabinet performance down to the microscopic level, P2P™ bracing was applied to the speaker cabinet.

By implementing this state-of-the-art technology, Q Acoustics has been able to identify and apply reinforcements to only the precise points of the cabinet that need extra support, dissipating unwanted energy rather than transferring it throughout the cabinet.

Bi-Wire terminals

All Concept Series models feature Bi-Wire terminals on the back of the cabinet. This means you can use a compatible speaker cable to route two pairs of cables from your power source (amplifier) to the speaker. One set of cables carries the high-frequency signals, while the second pair carries the mid/low frequencies.

The advantage of separating these frequencies using dual wiring is twofold: intermodulation distortion caused by interactions between the high and low frequencies running through the cable can be minimized, resulting in a noticeable improvement in midrange clarity.
