AN ESSENTIAL COMPONENT FOR SPEAKER INSTALLATIONS, THE Q ACOUSTICS QI 65CLRF
Designed to cover the back of ceiling and wall speakers, a fire and acoustic hood is a legal requirement for many new buildings. But whether legally required or not, we recommend them as a safety measure. Using a fire and acoustic hood helps prevent the spread of fire through a building's floors and reduce the transmission of sound to adjacent rooms and properties. It is a requirement for all speakers installed under living areas and escape routes.
MAINTAINING FIRE CLASSIFICATIONS
The hoods maintain the fire resistance of the ceiling on which they are mounted, allowing a fire resistance of 30 minutes or 60 minutes. Tested by the UK Building Test Centre and complies with Part B and Part E of the UK Building Regulations.
REDUCTION OF SOUND LEAKAGE
When a speaker is installed in a ceiling or wall, it can help transmit unwanted sound, possibly to another property, even when the speaker is not in use. Adding these hoods effectively restores the acoustic integrity of the ceiling or wall. When in use, the speaker can also reduce rear sound transmission by about 10 dB over the mid- to high-frequency range. Preventing the transmission of low (bass) frequencies is a specialty and may require significant additional treatment.
