The AE100² is a compact stand-mount/bookshelf speaker that exhibits qualities that perfectly match those of Acoustic Energy.
The AE100² was designed with an eye toward achieving high sound pressure levels from a small enclosure. This is achieved primarily through the use of a 130 mm mid-bass drive unit built around an ultra-high-power, long-throw motor system. Bass performance is enhanced by a slotted channel that allows significant cross-sectional area while avoiding the problems of air turbulence.
A 25mm soft dome tweeter with our Wide Dispersion technology completes the driver compliment and is housed in a 15mm HDF cabinet. Based on design features from the award-winning 500 Series and finished in a choice of satin white, black or walnut vinyl veneer finishes. The AE100² is sure to look good on speaker stands or bookshelves while delivering sound that belies its compact size.
Tweeter
Acoustic Energy's custom-built 25 mm soft dome tweeter is designed in conjunction with the 100 series bass driver to provide optimal integration and tone fitting. Combined with our Wide Dispersion Technology waveguide, the crossover area between the drive units is audibly seamless, while the powerful neodymium motor construction ensures reliable, distortion-free high volume reproduction.

The 130 mm bass/midrange driver used in the 100 Series is designed with a powerful long-travel motor to provide satisfactory volume levels and bass extension from relatively compact enclosures. The doped paper cone allows a higher crossover point for smoother midrange and seamless crossover with the tweeter, creating an extremely hi-fi, detailed and, above all, musical sound reproduction.
Housing
The 100 Series uses thin, 15 mm high density (HDF) enclosures with carefully matched bracing, reducing damaging resonances and preserving body and substance from compact, practical cabinets. Rear ports* provide smooth bass extension with minimal space impact, making placement easy. The AE109² and AE120² feature inert mass loading for added stability and acoustic damping, all models come with slim magnetic grilles.
