The latest adaptation of Acoustic Energy's globally acclaimed 100 Series features an all-new, innovative design from the ground up.

The new 100 Series introduces a plethora of evolutionary improvements aimed at refining the listening experience. All models (apart from the AE108² subwoofer) feature our WDT (Wide Dispersion Tweeter) waveguide for improved dispersion, now taking advantage of our 500 Series signals with mid/bass drivers positioned closer to the tweeter. The drive units are all-new and designed in tandem to provide seamless integration along with improved response and power handling. Slot ports at the rear of each cabinet reduce chuffing and distortion, thanks to a newly machined vent for further smooth airflow. Finally, as a first in this price range, the 100 Series uses High Density Fibreboard (HDF) construction to allow thinner cabinet walls without loss in mass or rigidity - the result is increased internal volume that offers deeper bass response for a minimal increase in external size.

Product description of the Acoustic Energy AE105 - Black - Wall Speaker

The AE105 is the latest addition to the all-new 100 Series. A versatile, 2-way speaker designed primarily for wall mounting, the AE105 is equally suitable for a bookcase or a shelf.

The AE105 uses a soft dome tweeter with WDT waveguide along with two 130 mm paper cone drivers, one of which acts as a passive radiator for enhanced bass performance. Optimized for vertical wall mounting with the listening position at or below the tweeter axis, the AE105 can be used to easily enhance the stereo sound of your TV, or as front L/R, Center and Surround channel speakers in multi-channel home theater systems ... when combined with the matching AE108² compact subwoofer.

They are finished in black, white or walnut vinyl veneer and come with rear mounting plates, template, wall position holders, black and light gray grilles for easy integration into any room decor.

Tweeter

Acoustic Energy's custom 25mm soft dome tweeter is designed in conjunction with the 100 Series bass driver to provide optimal integration and tone fitting. Combined with our Wide Dispersion Technology waveguide, the crossover area between drive units is audibly seamless, while the powerful neodymium motor assembly ensures reliable, distortion-free high-volume reproduction.

Drivers

The 130 mm bass/midrange driver used in the 100 Series is designed with a powerful long-travel motor to provide satisfactory volume levels and bass extension from relatively compact enclosures. The doped paper cone allows a higher crossover point for smoother midrange and seamless crossover with the tweeter, creating an extremely hi-fi, detailed and, above all, musical sound reproduction.

Housing

The 100 Series uses thin, 15 mm high-density (HDF) enclosures with carefully matched bracing, reducing damaging resonances while maintaining the body and substance of compact, practical cabinets. Rear ports* allow for smooth bass extension with minimal space impact, making placement easy. The AE109² and AE120² feature inert mass loading for added stability and acoustic damping, all models come with slim magnetic grilles.

*The AE108² is a sealed box without a lock port.

Designed to work seamlessly as part of a multi-channel system, including the AE100²s, AE109²s, AE120²s, AE107² and the new wall-mount AE105s, the AE108² is ideal for the modern home where controlled bass performance is required without compromising living space. Measuring less than a cubic foot, the AE108² can be placed discreetly. Finished in a choice of black or walnut vinyl veneer finishes, the AE108² delivers a bass punch that belies its compact size.
