The Chora 816 model is a 2.5-way bass-reflex floorstanding loudspeaker. The woofer and midrange/bass speaker driver, both equipped with the Slatefiber cone, work together in perfect harmony for lush sound reproduction and perfect bass impact. The sound finds its full dimension in your listening room, with a dynamic midrange and remarkable power handling. A front port is positioned below the speaker to reduce distortion, and thanks to the tilt of the speaker stand, Time Alignment ensures a sound image focused on the listener.
The Chora 816 is particularly suitable for home theaters and fits seamlessly into rooms up to 30 sq. ft.
The TNF Aluminum/Magnesium tweeter - Soft and accurate highs
The surround connecting the dome to the stand uses a slow-shear material called Poron. Directly derived from Utopia's famous Beryllium tweeter, this surround reduces distortion by one-third between 2,000 Hz and 3,000 Hz, the ear's highly sensitive range. The spaciousness and very low directionality of the inverted dome ensure that silky smooth treble can be heard from any point in your listening room.
The Slatefiber cone - Perfectly balanced sound with the Focal Chora 816 - Black - Floorstanding Speaker
Slatefiber technology, exclusive from Focal, involves the use of recycled, non-woven carbon fibers applied as a sandwich between two layers of thermoplastic polymer. In their quest for perfection, Focal engineers chose to use non-woven carbon fibers, all pointing in the same direction to achieve even greater rigidity and better damping.
Manufactured in Focal workshops using a state-of-the-art industrial tool, the "slate" effect of the cone provides better damping and stiffness, as well as lightness - the three "essentials" of a good speaker driver.
