Flax cone, so original, the Focal Dôme Flax - Black - Bookshelf Speaker

Flax cones have been made exclusively by Focal in France since 2013. With their original design, the cones are completely focused on acoustic performance. They are made of high-quality flax fiber enclosed by two thin layers of fiberglass. F-cones are characterized by their natural sound, with little coloration, their rich reproduction in the midrange register and their tighter bass. The lightness of the fiber meets the criteria of high internal damping, high speed and high bending stiffness. Flax is twice as light as fiberglass because the fiber is hollow. It also has very low elasticity, making it ideal for increasing the flexural stiffness of a sandwich structure.

Exclusive focal technologies

Following Dôme Polyglass, the original satellite speaker of the range, the more recent addition to the family, Dôme Flax, benefits from the innovative composite sandwich cone made with natural flax. It has already proven its worth with the high-fidelity Aria 900 speakers and the Car Audio kits in the Performance range. Flax technology offers a marked improvement in definition and better linearity in frequency response. Both versions are made of an aluminum/magnesium inverted dome tweeter, another technology developed by Focal.
