Technics SB-C600 - Bookshelf Speakers - Pair - Black
Advanced Phase Accurate Drive
To reproduce music with enhanced spatial sound expressivity requires that the wavefronts of sound radiated from the speaker are all aligned, regardless of listening position. The concept of point sound source is one of the ideal approaches to achieve it.
To achieve reproduction of the point sound source, the coaxial configuration was adopted and combined with the original shaped linear phase plug for phase alignment and the smooth aperture shaped with a shallow shaped aperture and smooth corner edges for minimal sound reflection. The result is a spherical gold with aligned wavefronts of radiated sound.
The 2-way coaxial speaker unit of the Technics SB-C600 - Bookshelf Speakers realizes clear sound image localization and smooth, high-quality sound full of emotion while applying the concepts of sound point source and linear phase that Technics tirelessly pursues.
Linear Phase Plug
The originally shaped acoustic plug is positioned on the front side of the tweeter diaphragm and offers high-resolution sound reproduction capability and a wide soundstage.
Smooth Aperture
If the sound wave has irregularities on the sound transmission surface, the wavefront becomes perturbed by the shapes of the irregularities, resulting in the deterioration of frequency characteristics. High frequencies with short wavelengths tend to be more sensitive to the deterioration of sound characteristics. The woofer diaphragm in the coaxial speaker unit has a concave shape and smooth edge to reduce sound reflection. The result is minimal disruption of the wavefronts of sound waves radiated from the diaphragm to achieve excellence in frequency response and feature phasing, as well as wide directivity.
This configuration achieves a wide soundstage and a smooth and deep mid to high frequency range.
Smooth Flow Gate
A bass reflex port with a normal shape produces a large airflow vortex that causes irritating high-frequency noise. Technics implemented the airflow control method used for aircraft wings and designed the cross-sectional shape of the port using flow analysis. The optimally designed port shape causes no interference with airflow at the opening and provides high-quality bass reproduction with minimal noise and superior response.
Stationary Construction
It thoroughly removes unwanted or unwanted noise and reproduces only the intended sound with a high signal-to-noise ratio. The "Balanced Driver Mount Architecture" used in the top-of-the-line SB-G90M2 has been optimized for this model by making full use of CAE (Computer Aided Engineering). In addition, the speaker mounting bulkhead that holds the loudspeaker units in place has been newly designed to enhance the rigidity of the entire cabinet. The combination of these factors maximizes the benefits of the gravity-centered mounting structure. The rigidity and shape of each part that makes up the coaxial speaker unit has been extensively researched to eliminate unnecessary vibration and noise.
Balanced Drive Assembly
To create calm sound with low distortion, the SB-C600 implements a speaker mounting baffle created to optimize the low resonance, high rigidity design concept of the SB-G90M2 with CAE.
The originally shaped speaker mounting baffle keeps stress concentration under control. The speaker mounting baffle has enough ventilation holes to ensure smooth sound flow from the rear of the speaker unit and improve response while maintaining low resonance and high rigidity. In addition, the structure reduces vibration throughout the enclosure and minimizes effects on other equipment.
