Point source Speaker system

The newly designed flat, coaxial 2-way speaker unit (woofer and tweeter) enables a point source, realizing an even frequency characteristic without peaks and valleys over the entire frequency range. As a result, the Technics Speaker System is not only able to precisely place sounds, but also to reproduce the ambience of a large hall.

Technics has developed its own flat coaxial 2-way speaker unit to reproduce mid and high tones in a natural way. The cone of the woofer has a flat sandwich construction, with the core consisting of an aluminum honeycomb structure covered with a cloth of light and extremely stiff carbon.
It maintains its perfect piston action all the way past the transition frequency to the tweeter, thus avoiding the dip in frequency characteristics normally seen with cone speakers. The magnet system uses a hefty magnet, a copper cover, a copper ring, and a short voice coil with futuristic angled windings that allow it to handle hefty currents and have low distortion. The basket is cast from solid aluminum and has arms that scatter resonances so that even the smallest unwanted vibrations are eliminated. Together, they guarantee accurate and dynamic bass reproduction.

Solid Housing with Entasis Shape

The enclosure must provide a solid support surface for the loudspeaker units, prevent unwanted resonances and ensure that sound waves are reproduced smoothly and without diffraction reflection. For the side panels, which are large and tend to resonate, to reduce diffraction reflection, curved panels of sturdy 42mm thick sheet metal are used.
The self-supporting enclosure, whose six panels meet at the edges, is very rigid because each panel of this cubic structure reinforces the adjacent panel. In this way, unwanted resonances generated by the deflection of sound waves on the panels and the enclosure are reduced. The acoustic damping material and its positioning are optimized both based on the frequency range of the various speaker units and on the cabinet volume, thus suppressing unwanted standing waves in the cabinet.
The bass reflex port at the rear is a parabolic port whose curvature from inlet to outlet is constantly changing and determined by a quadratic function. It suppresses both the "Karman vortex" caused at the sound opening and wind-induced noises in the sound opening, producing a smooth and powerful low frequency response with minimum noise.
The high-gloss enclosure, obtained after an intensive process of lacquering, sanding, polishing, and finishing with a high degree of craftsmanship, is befitting of the speaker's high sound quality. The cabinet is not only beautiful to look at, but also suppresses subtle vibrations in the surface of the enclosure, contributing to the natural and rich sound experience.

High Quality Change Filter

The high-performance crossover was developed by alternate design and listening all the time in order to maximize the performance of each speaker unit and obtain a balanced sound. To avoid electrical interference between the speaker units and minimize the effect of vibration, the three separate circuit boards for the woofer, midrange and tweeter, have been placed in the most ideal position in the enclosure, enabling exceptionally realistic sound reproduction.

Extremely Wide Frequency Range

The Technics speaker system has an extremely wide frequency range that extends to 100kHz, allowing it to reproduce the entire frequency spectrum of high-quality, high-resolution music sources. The result is faithful reproduction of audio signals with all their nuances.
