Technics SE-R1E-S - Stereo Power Amplifier - Reference Class - Silver

JENO Engine (Jitter Elimination and Noise-shaping Optimization)

"Jitter" is a major cause of distortion in digital systems, due to improper timing in the master clocks used in the conversion from digital to analog.

To address that degradation of sound, Technics has developed its own "jitter reduction circuit," consisting of a clock generator in the noise-shaping system to reduce jitter in the low-frequency range, and a high-precision sample rate converter for suppressing jitter in the high-frequency range. This works with a very precise "PWM conversion circuit" (Pulse Width Modulation), optimizing noise-shaping speed, degree and requantisation number and PWM gradation to convert high-resolution signals to PWM without causing damage to the dynamic range. These new technologies allow Technics' new digital amplifiers including the Technics SE-R1E-S - Stereo Power Amplifier to reproduce the natural and delicate nuances of music.

GaN-FET Driver (High Speed and Low Impedance Power devices)

In the speaker-driving portion of the amplifier, Technics has used a super-low-resistance GaN (gallium nitride) FET driver. This enables the construction of a high-power amplifier using a single "push-pull configuration," allowing the length of the large current carrying signal path to be shortened, resulting in excellent linearity regardless of sound level.

LAPC (Load Adaptive Phase Calibration).

The impedance of a speaker is not constant, but varies according to its frequency, thus changing the load on an amplifier and thus potentially changing the sound. Technics can measure the "frequency amplitude-phase characteristics" of an amplifier with connected speakers, and has developed a "speaker impedance adaptive optimization algorithm" that uses digital signal processing to achieve an ideal impulse response. Correction processing based on the new algorithm provides a flat frequency response for both amplitude and phase, which is impossible for conventional amplifiers, and delivers a sound with rich spatial expression.

Technics Digital Link (Original Digital Signal Transfer)

Some systems use a digital link between source component and preamplifier, keeping the digital signal pure for as long as possible. Technics Digital Link goes a step further, however, and has eliminated the volume control function of the preamplifier, to instead send the volume control information along with the audio signal directly to the power amplifier in digital form. The amplifier's "jitter reduction circuitry" reduces any effect of jitter in the signal transmission, and then performs volume control just before the PWM converter. This new audio transmission interface, Technics Digital Link, supports audio signals and also eliminates inter-channel effects by transmitting the left and right channel signals separately. Technics Digital Link has achieved an ideal amplifier configuration where degradation between the preamp and power amplifier is minimized, resulting in excellent stereo separation and reproduction of even the most subtle signals. The result is a more detailed and dynamic sound.

High-speed Silent Linear Power Supply of the Technics SE-R1E-S - Stereo Power Amplifier

The accurate reproduction of dynamic and powerful sounds as well as low-level signals expressing delicate nuances requires a solid power supply for an amplifier. An amplifier must be both powerful and low-noise, able to respond immediately to a constantly changing audio signal without any voltage fluctuation. The power supply circuit of an ordinary amplifier consists of a large-capacity power transformer and a rectifier circuit. After research and testing, Technics decided to use choke-input rectification and a discrete stabilized power supply circuit, in order to obtain ideal voltage and current waves. Thanks to this technology incorporated into the power supply circuit, the amplifier is able to drive the speakers in a powerful manner under all conditions.

Battery Driven Clock Generator

The best power supply for delicate circuits (such as the clock generator in the new amplifiers) is one that is completely isolated from noise and fluctuations in the mains supply. Technics has quite a bit of experience with circuits that use battery isolation, already applied it in analog amplifiers in the past, to create ultra-low-noise pre-amplifier stages.

Dual Mono Construction of the Technics SE-R1E-S - Stereo Power Amplifier

The signal paths for the left and right channels are completely separated from each other, preventing mutual interference, and this also ensures an exceptionally balanced sound. In the power supply, all circuits (and this already starts with the secondary windings in the transformer, for the left and right channels) are completely independent of each other. Also, all parts and components are distributed over both channels, for optimal channel separation thus, and a spatial sound image.
