Technologies gained from the development of the SL-1200 series and the high-end SL-1000R model were richly infused into the motor drive unit, a key component of the turntable. It exclusively tunes the single-rotor, coreless direct-drive motor used by the SL-1200GR to read high rotation accuracy and highly accurate signals from the plate. Optimal motor control is performed for the inertial mass of the two-layer structural plate on which the vinyl record is placed with dampening rubber on the entire back surface to eliminate unwanted resonance in the aluminum cast plate to eliminate the rotational irregularity called cogging.
Reads Signals Accurately from the Slot on the Plate
The tone arm is a universal S-shaped tone arm with static balance, another Technics tradition. Using a high-precision bearing with the same gimbal suspension and machined housing as the SL-1200 series, high initial sensitivity is achieved. The aluminum die-cast chassis is tightly integrated with a special material consisting of ABS mixed with fiberglass to provide a two-layer construction. The isolator consists of a spring and rubber for optimum vibration damping properties.
Equipped with a Cartridge of Audiophile Quality
The SL-100C is pre-installed with an Audia-Technica AT-VM95C cartridge, so you can listen to your favorite tunes with high reliability with minimal installation. The height of the tone arm can be easily adjusted within a 6 mm range, allowing the use of several other phono cartridges.
Auto Lifter Minimizes Wear of Plates and Stylus
Once the tone arm reaches the end of the record, the auto lifter function will automatically raise the cartridge. This prevents unnecessary wear and tear on your valuable vinyl records and needle. By integrating the auto lifter function into the base of the tone arm, effects on the tone arm are eliminated. Thanks to a simple design that uses no motor power, there is no electrical or vibration impact and the movement of the tone arm is not stopped. In response to many requests from many users regarding the auto lifter function, a design was chosen that prioritizes sound quality. The functions required to play records have been kept to a minimum, making the unit simple and user-friendly.
