Technics SU-R1 - Network Audio Player and Preamplifier - Reference Class - Silver
Technics Digital Link (Original Digital Signal Transfer)
The Technics Digital Link system has removed the volume control at the preamplifier: it sends the volume information simultaneously with the audio signal to the power amplifier. The jitter-reduction circuit in the power amplifier reduces the effect of jitter on signal transmission, and performs the volume control just before the PWM converter. This new method of signal transmission, Technics Digital Link, supports audio signals up to 384kHz/32-bit, while avoiding crosstalk between channels by transmitting the signal for the L and R channels separately.
Technics Digital Link has enabled an optimal amplifier configuration that minimizes the degradation of amplitude accuracy in the signal transmission between the preamp and power amplifier, resulting in optimal channel separation and the perfect reproduction of weak signals.
Digital Noise Isolation Architecture
The SU-R1 Network Audio Player receives its audio signals from a variety of digital sources, such as a NAS, PC, USB memory cards and digital interfaces. Because many of the digital media repositories are designed to work with PCs, a low noise floor, which is very important for pure audio playback, is not one of the important design requirements.
Separate Analog/Digital Power Supply
The analog and digital circuits each have their own low-noise R-Core transformer with excellent regulation characteristics (the difference in the value of the AC voltage between a loaded and unloaded transformer). In addition, the power supply is isolated to prevent digital noise from entering the analog circuit.
*R-core transformer is a trademark of Kitamura Kiden Co., Ltd.
Technics Music App for Smartphones from the Technics SU-R1
The Technics Music App allows you to choose a music source, select playback devices and create a playlist comfortably and easily, via the screen of a tablet. The Music App's screen displays all music files stored on a DLNA-certified server, the device running the App, or on a USB memory card connected to the music player, giving you complete control over playback at all times. Combined with the SE-R1, the Music App not only lets you control the volume and playback functions, but also adjusts the Bass, Mid and Treble levels.
Digital Oversampling Filter with Ultra Low Distortion
The digital oversampling filter uses Technics' proprietary algorithm that, by using a digital oversampling filter, shifts the "image" to a level below -160dB. This produces a warmer and more spacious sound image.
High Quality Analog I/O Circuit
It uses a low-noise Digital Noise Isolation Architecture, a precise clock generator and independently operating high-quality D/A converter chips (BurrBrown PCM1792) for the left and right channels. The circuitry after the D/A converter uses non-magnetic film resistors, Low-ESR film capacitors and audiophile opamps (LME49720) to create a fully balanced configuration. Analog signals are carefully converted to a digital signal by a 192kHz/24-bit A/D Converter (Burr-Brown PCM4220), so that the same high sound quality of the all-digital system can also be achieved with analog sources.
High-Res Re-Master
Technics has developed a signal processor that can increase both sample frequency and bit depth. The High-Res Re-master converts audio signals to up to 192kHz/32-bit resolution for the most faithful and expressive reproduction of the original music.
